Getting Started Email Configuration: Emails can be sent from Pet Sitter Plus in a few ways.
- Through our internal email system (default).
- Through a combination of our internal email system and your business or personal email account (strongly recommended).
- Through your business or personal email account only.
Note:
- 1. This step is not essential to use Pet Sitter Plus, but it can provide enhanced functions.

1. Set your Email Options
- Use Staff's Email Address: Turn ON to allow clients to reply to the specific staff member who sent the email (instead of to the company reply-to email address).
- BCC All Direct Emails To Company: Turn ON (Optional) to receive a copy of all emails sent via SMTP.
2. Connect Your Email
- Send Email From Your Own Account: Turn ON to configure SMTP to connect your company/personal email account.
- Email Configuration Type: Click "SMTP." - Only use "Google" if you have a Google/Gmail email Account or "Microsoft" if you have a Microsoft Email Account.
- Only Use For Direct Emails: (Recommended) Switch ON to enable Pet Sitter Plus to automatically route emails through the most appropriate channel depending on the nature of the email.
- Click "Update."
3. Email Configuration - Custom SMTP Configuration
SMTP Configurations are different for each email provider, so you will need to know your email provider, your email password, and the security information.
- Type: Select Custom.
- Sender Email: Enter your email address.
- Host: Enter the Host details. See the table below for some common options.
- Username: Enter your email address
- Password: Enter your email address Password (not your Pet Sitter Plus Password).
- Select "Test & Update." If you receive a Success message you're all set! If you do not, see trouble shooting below.
Once your email account has connected you will see a successful connection message displayed on screen. You will also receive an email SMTP Test showing that it is now connected.

Note: Gmail and Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) email accounts can be connected directly using our Google option. See Connect your Email using Google and Gmail for instructions on how to do this.
Tip: Once you have successfully completed the connection, a new option to email your clients in bulk from the Client Search is available, like in the following screenshot.
4. SMTP Troubleshooting
SMTP Troubleshooting:
- Be sure to enter your email address and password in manually. If you cut or copy and paste it into the fields you may accidentally add invisible characters, such as spaces, which will cause your connection to fail.
- Hotmail & Yahoo accounts often fail on the first attempt. To rectify this, log-in to your email program. Turn on 2-Step Verification, create an App-Specific Password, use it in place of your email password. For full instructions on how to set these steps up, use these links:
