"Prefer ACH" highlights bank account use over credit cards, to encourage use of ACH, since it has a lower fee. Clients can add a credit card, but they have to click "View Other Payment Options" to access.
Toggle ON "Prefer ACH" and "Do Not Allow New Cards" to transition to only accepting ACH, or if both are selected when you first connect Stripe, you can begin by only accepting ACH. "Do Not Allow New Cards" prevents a client from adding a new payment card once theirs expires.
ACH is a bank transfer. This is only available in the US. Plaid, the name of the company, connects accounts from any bank or credit union in the US to Pet Sitter Plus as a payment solution. Plaid is integrated with Stripe, so you only need a Stripe account to accept credit cards and ACH transfers. Stripe offers a simple, convenient way for clients to pay invoices with a credit and / or a debit card.
How Do I Set My ACH Options?
Navigation: Connect > Payment Processors > Stripe
- Switch "Use ACH with Plaid" ON.
- Click on "these instructions" to accept the Stripe terms and conditions.
- Option 1: Switch "Prefer ACH" ON to have the ACH option large and Credit Card small.
- Option 2: Switch "Do not allow new cards" ON to start out only accepting ACH or to transition from credit cards to only ACH.
- Remember to Click "Update."
Option 1 - "Prefer ACH" - client view
With ONLY "Prefer ACH" ON: Clients see "+ Add new bank account" prominently, but can still click to add an alternative payment card if they prefer.
Option 2 - "Prefer ACH and "Do not allow new cards" - client view
With BOTH "Prefer ACH" and "Do not allow new cards" ON: Clients are now asked to add a new bank account, and cannot select any other payment method.
