Stripe configuration includes the option for an electronic authorization clients select, allowing you to take payments from their credit / debit card on file in the Client Portal. Otherwise clients can initiate payment. Stripe is a payment card processor that offers a simple and convenient way for clients to pay invoices with a credit and / or a debit card.
Tip: When you turn "Require Automatic Charges Allowed" ON you are requiring clients to be on automatic payment, however they can delete their payment method. You can take payments in bulk at invoice creation or from Unpaid Invoices, for clients that have entered a payment method.
Note: When "Require Automatic Charges Allowed" is OFF, clients can still agree, and you can take payment for those that agree, but not all clients are required to be on automatic payment
How Does "Require Automatic Charges Allowed" Work?
Navigation: Connect > Payment Processors > Stripe
Step 1
- If you toggle “Require Automatic Charges Allowed” OFF, clients may allow you to take automatic payments, but is it not a requirement. They can add their card and they can initiate payment.
- Click "Update."

- If you toggle “Require Automatic Charges Allowed” ON, clients must agree to automatic payments. They are not able to prevent you from taking payments, but they can delete their card on file.
- Click "Update."
Client Portal View with “Require Automatic Charges Allowed” set to ON: Clients will see the message stating that they are agreeing to Automatic payments if they add their payment card details.
