When staff are out working in the field, it is essential that they can easily navigate to a client's home. From any client service, staff can map directions to the client's home from their current location.
Tip: The phone's "Location Services" must be turned on. If staff have problems checking-in, you can read Why is the Check-in and/or Check-out function Not Working on my iPhone? or Why is the Check-in and/or Check-out Function Not Working on my Android Phone?
Note: For the map to function, the Address Field of the client record needs to be populated. See How Do I Enter the Main Contact Client Details? How Do I View the Client's Address and Map from a Service Screen?
Navigation: My Dashboard > My Services
- After opening a service, tap the Location Pin tab at the bottom of the screen.
- The location marker identifies your current location where you checked in with an "I". The house icon indicates the client's home address so you can see how far away you are.
- For route directions, tap and hold the blue underlined address to open your Maps program, if your phone has the capability to do this.

Tip: To understand what can affect GPS network signals and their accuracy, see GPS Accuracy at Check-In and Check-Out for an explanation.
Can I Change My Map View?
Yes, you can set your default preferred Map Solution from your Preferences tab under your Profile page. Once you set your preference your map choice will open each time you access a Client Location from their Profile or from "My Dashboard"
Available map options are:
- Default – uses the standard mapping behaviour built into Pet Sitter Plus (Google Maps)
- Google Maps
- Apple Maps
- Waze
Navigation: Profile > Preferences
Step 1
- Go to your Profile.
- Select Preferences.
Step 2
- From the Default Mapping Solution drop-down list, select your preferred option: Default, Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze.
- Click Update to save your changes.

Tip: If you're not sure which to pick, the Default option will use your devices standard mapping behaviour.
