You can control the information displayed in each of the 4 columns of the Schedule Column View / Compact View to best meet the requirements of your business.
There are several Column View settings that allow you to organize how your columns appear and below we provide two typical examples of how to set these up by "time".
Tip: In addition to organizing your columns by "time", see Change How Column View is Organized to see how to view the Schedule by Service Item Group, Client Area, Client or Staff Type.
Example 1 - Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Evening
In this example each column contains services scheduled to a period of the day such as Morning, Midday, Afternoon and Evening. You can define the start and end times of each of these periods so that services scheduled within the times specified appear in the appropriate column.
Column 1
- Set Start Time to 00:00am.
- Set End Time to 11:00am (or any time you choose).
- Set Column 1 Heading to "Morning."
- Do not adjust other settings.
Column 2
- Set Start Time to 11:00am (or any time you choose but it must be the same as the end time of column 1).
- Set End Time to 2:00pm (or any time you choose).
- Set Column 2 Heading to "Midday."
- Do not adjust other settings.
Column 3
- Set Start Time to 14:00am (or any time you choose but it must be the same as the end time of column 2).
- Set End Time to 17:00pm (or any time you choose).
- Set Column 3 Heading to "Afternoon."
- Do not adjust other settings.
Column 4
- Set Start Time to 17:00pm (or any time you choose but it must be the same as the end time of column 3).
- Set End Time to 23:55pm.
- Set Column 4 Heading to "Evening."
- Do not adjust other settings.
Leave no gaps in your day!
As you define your time periods above, you must not leave gaps in between the periods. All 4 periods must add up to 24 hours.
Why? Column 4 is known as the "Catch-all" column and will automatically display any services scheduled at a time that is not defined by these settings. By making sure that all 24 hours of your day are defined by your 4 periods, you will ensure that nothing inappropriately is scheduled to column 4.
Example 2 - Walking, Visits, Day Care, Boarding
In this example each column contains a different type of service and could be labelled, Walking, Visits, Daycare and Boarding respectively. Typically you would then set the start and end times to represent a full 24 hours, which means you would see all services for each type in each column. This is useful if you want to see all your dog walking in one column and all your visits in another and so forth.
Note: The instructions below assume that you are a business that delivers Dog Walking, Visits, Day Care & Boarding Services and that you have already setup your service items groups.
Column 1
- Set Start Time to 00:00am.
- Set End Time to 23:55pm.
- Set Column 1 Heading to "Walking".
- Set Column 1 Service Item Group to "Dog Walking" (or whatever you have called it in your system).
- Do not adjust other settings.
- Column 2
- Set Start Time to 00:00am.
- Set End Time to 23:55pm.
- Set Column 2 Heading to "Visits."
- Set Column 2 Service Item Group to "Visits" (or whatever you have called it in your system).
- Do not adjust other settings.
- Column 3
- Set Start Time to 00:00am.
- Set End Time to 23:55pm.
- Set Column 3 Heading to "Day Care."
- Set Column 3 Service Item Group to "Day Care" (or whatever you have called it in your system).
- Do not adjust other settings.
- Column 4
- Set Start Time to 00:00am.
- Set End Time to 23:55pm.
- Set Column 4 Heading to "Boarding."
- Set Column 4 Service Item Group to "Boarding" (or whatever you have called it in your system).
- Do not adjust other settings.
Tip: It's a good idea to keep the column label name as short as possible as it may be difficult to read when viewing on a mobile phone.
How do I change the Schedule Column View settings?
Navigation: Admin > Settings > Schedule Settings > Column View Settings
- Enter the name that you want to call your columns in the label field.
- Make any changes to the start and end times for each column.
