Setting up your Stripe Payment Processor

Modified on Fri, 11 Nov 2022 at 10:44 AM

Stripe is a payment processor that offers a simple, convenient way for clients to pay invoices with a credit card, debit card, or bank account (US Only).

Once you connect your Stripe account to Pet Sitter Plus or apply for a new Stripe account, you will adjust the settings for your business requirements, the articles below explain the available options.

Here is a summary of your options along with additional implementation details:
  • Accept credit cards & debit cards, which still permits clients to pay with cash, check, etc.
  • Require authorization for taking payment automatically.
  • Accept ACH (bank-to-bank) transfers (US Only).
  • Accept both credit cards and ACH transfers (US Only).
  • Encourage clients to use ACH transfer (US Only).

Require Automatic Charges Allowed
This configuration requires clients to agree to allow you to take payments automatically from their payment cards. See How does Require Automatic Charges Allowed Affect Stripe?

Use ACH with Plaid
You may need to read What is ACH with Plaid? (US Only) to learn how this saves on processing fees and Using ACH with Plaid. Note: Available to US clients only.

Prefer ACH
Prefer ACH allows you to give priority to adding a bank account rather than a credit card in the client portal. Note: Available to US clients only.

Do Not Allow New Cards
You can remove the option to add a new credit card once their card expires to transition clients to ACH or to stop taking credit cards. See Set up Prefer ACH or Only Use ACH in Stripe.  Note: Available to US clients only.

Note:
  • You can add PayPal as an integrated option, either exclusively or in conjunction with Stripe.
