Tip: Read the following explanations for "Restrict to Pet Types", "Active" and "Use in Reports."

"Restrict to Pet Types"

Your system contains a field called Pet Type which is associated with the Pet Record and which is generally used to denote the type of pet such as Cat, Dog, Reptile, Small Furry etc.

When creating a new Vaccination Type, by entering one or more pet types into the “Restrict to Pet Types” field, you are able to create Vaccinations that might typically only be administered to a Cat or a Dog.

This means that when your client uses the system to enter vaccination data, they will only be offered vaccinations that are relevant to the type of pet they are entering data for and this makes the user interface more intuitive.

Example: Shows only three vaccinations types available in a pet record where the pet type is “Dog”.

"Active"

The Active Tab when related to a Vaccination Type controls whether or not a particular type of vaccination is available to be added to the system. Inactive Vaccination Types cannot be added as new vaccinations either by administrators or clients using the client portal.

Use Case for the Active Tab.

If a vaccination has been superseded with a new type of vaccination such that the old one is no longer administered by vets in your area, then by making the associated older Vaccination Type inactive you ensure that the defunct vaccination can no longer be recorded in your system.

"Use in Reports"

Some pet care establishments such as dog and cat boarding establishments and dog day care establishments are required to ensure that the dogs or cats that use their establishment are vaccinated. However, there are a number of different types of vaccinations, all of which you might want to record, but only some of which are mandated by the local governing body.

The “Use in Reports” tab, when activated means that the Vaccination Type will appear in reports when relevant to alert the business owner to vaccination status.

If you want to record the details of a vaccination that is not mandated by your local governing body, then by setting “Use in Reports” to false (Toggle OFF), you will not be alerted to the status of the vaccination recorded in any of the reports that Pet Sitter Plus supports.

What are the Advanced Options for Vaccination Types?

Under “Show Advanced Options” you will find a feature that allows you to consolidate your Vaccination Types. If you discover that one or more of your “Vaccination Types” are duplicates (insofar as in the real world they actually represent the same thing) you can use this facility to merge the data that relates to these different Vaccination Types into a single “Type” and you can then delete the duplications once they contain no data.

IMPORTANT: We strongly recommend that you contact us on support before using "Show Advanced Options", as any unintended consequences cannot be reversed after the event.
