For Further Help:
Note: Before you can create Price Rules, you need to have completed the tutorial section Tutorial: 2-1 Add service items.
When creating your services and entering their prices, you will probably want the option to add a surcharge or offer a discount in certain circumstances, eg. at a weekend. We call these "Price Rules."
You will learn how to set out certain "rules" for when a surcharge or discount is automatically applied to your prices.
- The benefits of using price rules means that you need fewer services and so your software is easier to use.
- By creating price rules for a service you can automatically cater for price variations that you have advertised to your clients.
- Once the price rules have been set up, you only ever need to alter them if you have a price increase, change your pricing policy, or offer a new service.
- You can add or edit price rules on any existing services.

Step 1: How do I Add a Surcharge Price Rule?
Scenario: Tammy usually offers a fish feeding service at $15.00 per visit. However, at the weekend the service costs $20.00. She will need to add a price rule to automatically increase the price and charge clients $20.00 when they request this service on a weekend.
1. Click "FishFeed" from the service item list.
2. Click the option for "Price Rules"
3. Click "Add a New Price Rule"
4. Choose the option "it is a weekend" from the dropdown
5. Type in the cost for the weekend service "$20.00"
6. Click "Add"
Your new price rule now appears in the list.
You can see that if the service is scheduled on a weekend, the charge will be automatically increased from $15.00 to $20.00 when the service is scheduled.
Step 2: How do I Add a Discount Price Rule?
Scenario: Tammy usually offers a fish feeding service at $15.00 per visit. However, she has certain clients that receive a 10% discount on all their services. She will need to add a price rule to automatically discount the price and charge these clients $13.50 when they schedule this service on a weekend.
Begin creating a price rule following the method you learned in the steps above.
1. Choose "the client type is" from the dropdown
2. Choose the client type "Discount 10%" from the second dropdown
3. Type in the discounted price "$13.50" and click "Add"
Your new discount price rule appears in the list.
You can see that if the service is scheduled for a client who has a 10% discount, the charge will be automatically discounted from $15.00 to $13.50.
Step 3: How do I Add Multiple Price Rules?
Scenario: Tammy usually offers a fish feeding service at $15.00 per visit. However, she has certain clients that receive a 10% discount on all their services but who also schedule jobs on a weekend. She will need to add a multiple price rule to automatically increase the service charge for a weekend, BUT ALSO discount the price by 10% at the same time.
Begin creating a price rule following the method you learned in the steps above.
Note: You have two existing price rules in your list:
- One will increase the price for a weekend booking.
- The other will discount the price for clients who have the client type "10% discount."
1. Create a price rule and choose "the client type is" and "Discount 10%" from the dropdowns.
2. Then click "Add another if... "
3. Choose the rule "it is a weekend" from the dropdown.
4. Type in the new cost "$16.00" for the new multiple price rule. Click "Add"
Your new multiple price rule appears in the list with the others.
You can see that if the service is scheduled for a client who has a 10% discount AND they schedule it on a weekend, the charge will be automatically discounted from $20.00 to $16.00.
