This second article explains the follow-on steps for how to configure your SMTP settings so that you can link your business or personal email account to Pet Sitter Plus.
IMPORTANT: Before you can follow the instructions here please ensure you have first read and followed the instructions in Part 1.
Note:
- Connecting your email account to Pet Sitter Plus is not essential, but can provide enhanced functions such as bulk/masse emailing to your clients.
- If you have a Gmail/GSuite, Microsoft or other email provider account, please follow the applicable instructions below:
- Connect your Email Using Gmail/Google
- Connect your Email using SMTP (For all other email Account Providers)
- Connect your Email using Microsoft (For Outlook, Hotmail, Live.com or MS 365)

What settings do I need to send emails from my business or personal email account?
Navigation: Connect > Email Settings > Email Configuration
Step 1
Configure your SMTP settings to link your personal or business email to Pet Sitter Plus. Complete each option below:
Sender Email
Enter the email address of the business or personal email account that you want to link to Pet Sitter Plus.
Host
To find your SMTP host server name either:
- ask your email service provider,
- use a search engine, or
- look at our list of SMTP settings for some commonly used Email Services.
Username
The username you use to login to your email service.
Password
This is your email account password, not your Pet Sitter Plus password (unless you use the same one). Click the "eye" icon to check the password as you enter it.
Security
The type of security used by your email provider. Options are “None”, “STARTTLS” or “SSL.”

- ask your email service provider,
- use a search engine, or
- look at our list of SMTP settings for some commonly used Email Services.
Port
The port number used by your email provider.
To find your SMTP host server name either:
- ask your email service provider,
- use a search engine, or
- look at our list of SMTP settings for some commonly used Email Services.
- Click "Test & Update."
Step 2
When you have clicked "Test & Update", you should see a message confirming a successful connection and also receive a confirmation email to your company email address.
Note: If you DO NOT see this message, you will see a warning detailing the reason why the settings you entered are not working.
If you continue to be unsuccessful, please contact us at support@petsitterplus.com so that we can investigate this further with you.
Note: Many connection issues are due to the username and password not matching. Please check these carefully – they are the username and password for your business or personal email account, NOT your Pet Sitter Plus login details. Cutting and pasting into these fields often adds additional spaces, please be sure you have not added any accidentally.
