An invoice is a bill you send a client so they can pay you for their services. An Invoice is created from a service order, which holds the scheduled services for the client. Creating an invoice creates a balance due on the client's account.
Creating an Invoice Up-to-a-Date
You can create an invoice for all of the services in a service order, or for services "up-to-a-date." For example, if you have a month's worth of dog walks scheduled in a service order, you could create an invoice for the entire service order (the entire month), or you could choose to only create an invoice for services up-to-a-date, like through the 15th of the month. Then at the end of the month, you would create a second invoice for the services from the 16th through month-end. This method would result in two invoices for a single service order. It is normally best practice to create a single invoice per service order. So in the example above, you would create one service order for the 1st-15th of the month and another service order for the 16th-month end. When ready, create an invoice for the first service order, then create an invoice for the second. This way, each service order will have a corresponding invoice.

Invoices emailed to clients are attached as a PDF. Invoices are also viewable in the client portal. Clients can pay their invoices in the portal (see How Does a Client Make a Payment through the Client Portal?) or you can manually record a payment if your client pays by cash, check, or other method.
