Quotes Explained

Once you have scheduled services in a service order, you have the option to send your client a quote. Quotes resemble invoices but are only an estimate displaying dates and charges for scheduled services, but they cannot have payments receipted to them. Invoices are an actual bill for services that are owed and due to be paid.

Sending a quote is optional. For example, you probably wouldn't send a quote to a regular dog walking client, because they know their recurring schedule and the cost. But you might send a quote to a client to confirm the dates and cost for their two week vacation pet boarding.

Sending a quote to your client is useful if you want to confirm that you have their service requirements recorded correctly including:
  • The service start date.
  • The service end date
  • The required type of service.
  • Service start and end times (such as pick up and drop off times, if relevant).
  • Special instructions you might have been given.
  • The price to confirm the total price your client will be required to pay for a service.

Tip: You can send quotes to one client from the Client Account or to multiple clients at once from Bulk Invoicing. Use the "Service Confirmation" email template, which can include information about the sitter, contact details, how and when they can pay, and other pertinent information.

Note: When you are ready for the client to pay, create an invoice from the quote and email it to the client. An invoice adds the outstanding balance due on the client's account. The client can pay in the client portal, by bank transfer, cash/check or another electronic means.
