How Do I Delete a Quote?

Modified on Fri, 23 Sep, 2022 at 2:30 PM

A "Quote" is the status of a service order and is used to inform a client of the cost of services prior to invoicing. To "delete" a quote you have to delete the service order. If the services are no longer needed, you can cancel or delete the services and remove the service order, which, in effect, deletes the quote.

Here is an explanation of how this might work:
  1. A client requests services from their client portal. You schedule the services, which creates a service order which is in "Quote" status.
  2. You now have two options:  1. convert the quote (service order) to an invoice, or 2. if you are no longer going to provide the services, you need to delete the services and remove the order.
  3. Whichever action you take, the quote no longer exists, as it has: 1. been converted to an Invoice, or 2. the services and service order have been deleted, so, in effect, the Quote is "deleted."

More About Quotes

Once you have scheduled services in a service order, you have the option to send your client a quote. Quotes look like invoices but they are an estimate showing the dates and rates of scheduled services, but they cannot have payments receipted to them. Whereas Invoices are an actual bill for services that is owed now and can be paid.
