Client Types are used for automatic calculation of rates using pricing rules. You can also use Client Type to automatically calculate pay rates for staff using staff pay rules. For example, to give recurring clients a 10% discount, you would create a "Client Type" called "Recurring Client" then set these clients to this Client Type in "Settings" and create a pricing rule on the Service Item for this Client Type so these clients automatically receive the lower price.
Applying a Client Type to a Client happens in Client Admin > Settings.
Tip: Client Types allow you to group clients for different purposes, such as:
- Filter by Client Type in Client Search to email clients with a certain Client Type separately.
- Charge groups of clients different amounts for the same service. Example - you increase the price for boarding, but you grandfather a group of clients on the old price.
- Discount a service to a specific group of clients, such as a Friends & Family discount.
- Group clients for marketing purposes.
- Identify clients who have certain types of pets.
- Identity clients who use certain services such as recurring, daycare or boarding.
How Do I Set a Client Type for a Client?
Navigation: Clients > access a client record > Client Admin > Settings
- Click dropdown and select the correct "Client Type."
- If you don't use client types, leave this setting as "[not set]."
- Click "Update."
Note: If the Client Type you need is not available, create one in Admin > Services > Client Types.
