Introduction to Time Recording and the Timecard Export Report
Time recording means different things to different people:
- Some businesses want to record all time spent at work. They are not interested in a breakdown of “work time” and “travel time”, to them it is just “time”.
- Some businesses want to record “travel time” and “work time” as separate items and then pay their sitters for those items at separate rates.
- Some businesses want to record “travel time” and “work time” as separate items but pay their sitters for those items at the same rate.
- Some businesses want to exclude “lunchtimes” and “off times” during the day from the timesheet, others do not.
Pet Sitter Plus has been designed to cater for all these different scenarios. Using our powerful time recording function, you can set some – or all – of your staff to be paid via shift working instead of being paid on a job-by-job basis.
Your staff's work time and travel time can be viewed in their Staff Activity Report which can then be exported as a timecard for accurate calculation of Payroll. See Understanding Work and Travel Time to see how these times are calculated.
You are able to export the Timecard to a spreadsheet for you to undertake some more in-depth analysis of your staff's working hours and pay.
Settings for Work Time
Work time is recorded in the Staff Activity Report, so it is essential that you have the correct settings to produce a report that is as accurate as it can be.
If the time or location that a sitter checks-in or starts a shift is not recorded properly, this will trigger a notification that may affect how the time is calculated.
Under normal circumstances the staff member should be checking-in to a service at the client's address, at or very near the scheduled time or time block. If this is not the case then these situations need to be highlighted. The Staff Activity report contains information that proves that the sitter checked-in late.
There are some environmental and technical considerations that may affect GPS on your mobile phone. For more information about how your mobile phone records your time when you check-in or out of a service, see GPS Accuracy at Check-in and Out. You can also adjust the GPS Tolerance.
Settings for Travel Time
Travel time is recorded in the Staff Activity Report, so it is essential that you have the correct settings to produce a report that is as accurate as it can be.
If the time or location that a sitter checks-out which automatically starts travel time being recorded is inaccurate, this will trigger a notification that may affect how the time is calculated.
Under normal circumstances the staff member should be checking-out of a service at the client's address, at or very near the scheduled time or time block. If this is not the case then these situations need to be highlighted. The Staff Activity report contains information that proves that the sitter checked-in late.

These travel time settings will allow you to record a set amount of "travel time" between services after a staff member checks-out and then checks-in to their next service.
