Quickbooks Connection Settings

To ensure your QuickBooks Online account is in sync with Pet Sitter Plus, there are a few settings you may need to switch on in your QuickBooks Online account first.

Multi Currency

Use Case Scenario - Invoicing different clients in more than one currency 

Pet Sitter Plus supports a multi-currency billing environment and can be synced through your QuickBooks Online Configuration. To ensure differing currencies are automatically recorded in QuickBooks when synced with Pet Sitter Plus, Multi-Currency needs to be enabled in both programs when you first connect to QuickBooks Online.

To set multicurrency in Pet Sitter Plus and QuickBooks Online

Pet Sitter Plus:
  • Navigate to Admin > Settings > Currency Settings > Multi Currency
  • Toggle ON "Enable Multi-Currency
  • Select the checkbox next to the currencies your business supports
  • Click "Update."

Sales Tax & VAT

Use Case Scenario - When your  business includes or adds Sales Tax/VAT on your services. 

In Pet Sitter Plus, VAT, GST / HST, sales or other tax for products and services can be set at Company or Client Level.


To ensure your invoices created in Pet Sitter Plus can be synced correctly in QuickBooks Online, Tax settings in both products need to match.


To set tax settings in Pet Sitter Plus


Pet Sitter Plus

  • Navigate to Admin > Settings > Tax Settings
  • Enter a Tax Label e.g. GST/VAT/HST, this will be displayed on your Invoices
  • Enter your Tax Code to display it on your Invoices
  • Select date to log each time you submit tax payments
  • NOTE: If you wish to use Gross Invoicing to include Tax within your prices, please contact Support to set this for you.


To set tax settings in QuickBooks Online


Please note: Tax Settings in QuickBooks Online vary depending on which country your business is located.


United States of America & Canada - (Automatically calculated by QuickBooks Online.)

  • Navigate to Taxes > Sales Tax
  • Click on "Use Automatic Sales Tax"
  • Follow the steps to set your Sales Tax rate based on your businesses geographical location.

United Kingdom & United Arab Emirates

  • Navigate to Taxes > VAT
  • Click on "Set up VAT"
  • Follow the steps to set your VAT Tax rate based on your businesses geographical location.

Australia & New Zealand

  • Navigate to Taxes > GST Set up
  • Follow the steps to set your GST Tax rate based on your businesses geographical location.

Auto Sync

Once you connect your Pet Sitter Plus system to your existing QuickBooks Online account, financial transactions and client data created within Pet Sitter Plus are "synced" directly into your QuickBooks Online account.


There is an option to Auto Sync your QuickBooks Integration which will ensure your financial transactions are automatically synced to QuickBooks Online every 5 hours.


To set Auto Sync with the QuickBooks Online Integration


Pet Sitter Plus

  • Navigate to Connect > Accounting Systems > QuickBooks
  • Toggle ON "Auto Sync"
  • Click "Update."
